We were formed 8 November 2006, with three managers: Venecia Liburd, Frank van Papenrecht and Sarita Friguglietti-de Vaal. Based on a wish list provided by an organisation, we try to get these items donated. At the same time we approach companies that import/export to the countries where the organisations reside, and ask them for donation of space on their cargo, or else that, at a low cost. We assist the organisation in applying for an import permit. We help pack the goods, in the Netherlands. We also approach companies in the destination country to donate, or offer at a lower price, the handling and clearing charges that are charged at point of entry into the country. Lastly we also approach transport companies to donate transport costs in order to ship goods to organisations that are not situated close to the harbour. If it is close to the harbour, it can be transported by the receiving organisation itself. All said costs are covered by Stichting Fish, which is why we need monetary donations, but also, why we rely on donations of services: Shipping, handling, customs clearing, and overland transport.
